Wichita River Festival 2004

The Wichita River Festival is an annual event since 1970s.

It is a 9 days long event, It starts on Friday evening with a parade, and finish up with fireworks on Saturday night. People in this area should have bought a button in nearby gas station or super market. The button allow you to go places like live music and performance, but you are not required to buy one since the event staffs wants as many people as possible to come over. The price for a button is only $3 for past few years, it is fun to collect. However due to the cost increase, the price may go up to $5 next year.

They close certain part of downtown area over the weekend

The things I like is that host a road race, bath tub race, block party. The bicycle club here in Wichita also holds a race called Wicked Wind 100, which is a 100 mile ride event but not exactly a part of the festival

For this year, I think a person who became famous after a TV program called the American Idol will be here in Wichita on Saturday

People can

Road closed for people in the festival (I think it's only on the weekend)

A guy walking away from fighting (Later arrested...)

A view of Wichita downtown from the river

Motocross There were folks from San Diego, CA

It was too windy so they had to call off the performance in the morning, but this time, they decided to go for it.

A car can drive in the river. I heard people always call 911 to notify fire department to rescue him, so this guy call 911 by himself to let those emergency workers what he is up to.

Army's advertisement (There was a tank recovery vehicle so I can see how the tank came over here, but I am not so sure how the Helicopter landed here since it is a quite hilly place.)

Posters

Every year, they select a designer to make a poster and it's been that way for a while.

You could see those traditional posters in the outside wall of Century II
