| 5/1 | Continued from last Thursday, I was in library, looking for articles I can use. I did some work for my friend in the morning, swam in the afternoon, spent time in library and had dinner with friends at Sumo Restaurant. I think it was a prom day so I have seen so many kids wearing something fancy. I was told that those kids do not tip so waiters and waitresses have to add 15% to the price. Hey, grow up, kids... Windy but sunny and it was a nice day. Expected to be sunny again tomorrow. |
| 5/2 | Sunny Sunday. Went to wash my car, did grocery shopping. I will be borrowing a room in basement of my friend's house for next several months and I checked out the place in the afternoon. It was big enough and quite nice. Breezy whole day and a little cold. Stayed in my lab until 8:00pm |
| 5/3 | Another sunny day, but a little colder than usual. Swam in the morning. Worked on my project. |
| 5/4 | Run outside for about 20 minutes. WSTF meeting at ARC in the noon. Registered for River Run (2Miles) on 5/8 AE737 class and I still get the value wrong on the last homework. Exam 4 on Thursday, and the final will be a week after the Thursday. |
| 5/5 | I stayed up late last night so I had hard time
waking up this morning. Spent time in library after swimming in the morning.
Got hair cut and then renewed my I-20. Studying in my room to get ready for
the exam tomorrow.
|
| 5/6 | My computer at work acting up funny and I cannot run any programs. I was out of the office and seems someone tried to crack it open, too (I think mine is hit by the Sasser one... I called up tech people but have not come yet). Sunny, breezy and we are expecting the weather to be going down soon. AE737 Exam #4 |
| 5/7 | Woke up, realized my suitemate forgot to shut
the fridge door. My eggs and jam were spoiled. This is fourth time he's
done it. Swam in the morning. Had lunch at
Souper Salad. Had my dinner
with friends at Manna Wok. My computer has not been fixed yet when I checked it in the evening. I cannot do anything until Monday at least. |
| 5/8 | Ran 2 miles in the morning as I participate
the Bank of America River Run for this year. I think I am fully recovered from the injury
I got after
the marathon back in last October. After got back my room, I took shower and
headed back to Downtown to take more pictures. One of my friends came to visit
other
friends in Wichita. We had dinner at Mama San's restaurant Later stopped by Townewest
before head back to our house.
Called my mom in the evening to thank her (It's on Sunday in Japan)
|
| 5/9 | Mother's Day. A bit cloudy and windy, but it was a fine day. Spent time with my friends around noon. We cooked Okonomiyaki, which is a kind of a pancake we eat in Japan. The meat cutter at Dillon's was out for his lunch and I could not have the eat cut so I just took the chunk to my friend's house, and we took care of it. It was good to have lunch with friends. |
| 5/10 | Had hard time waking up. Swam in the morning for about half hour, came to the office, found a note on my computer that I have to call my tech people. After removing virus out of my computer, I can work on it again |
| 5/11 | Worked out inside of gym. I was expecting some rain over night but I guess it did not. Warm and sunny whole day but just a little breezy. My friend wants to share his webpage I setup a link for him. Worked on my project, studied for my exam and review some stuffs for the CPR-PR class I have to help out on Thursday. I went to shopping in the afternoon. |
| 5/12 | Still no major rain despite of predictions over several days. I need a break from this humid and warm day. Had lunch with my friends at Thai Traditions. In the evening, I went to ARC to teach CPR-PR review class, we had three instructors, 10 participants. Everybody was doing well and pass the class. Tornado hit Attica, KS in the evening. Finally we had rain over night and continued until next morning. |
| 5/13 | The exam day. I had bad stomach ache in the morning so I only worked out for 15 minutes. Rainy pretty much whole day. Had my final exam on AE737 I hope I did fine. When I got home, I found my suitemate forgot to turn off a kitchen burner again. As long as he does not start fire before I check out, I am fine. Started to pack |
| 5/14 | First day of teaching Lifeguard Training class,
we have 28 candidates. Some of them were weak swimmers.
|
| 5/15 | Second day of teaching Lifeguard Training class.
Had CPR-PR and AED essential course, four did not pass
|
| 5/16 | Third day of teaching Lifeguard Training class. Covered drowning victim rescues. We spent pretty much whole day in water and I like teaching on the deck rather than giving a lecture in a classroom. |
| 5/17 | I woke up at 7:00am, stretched really good then
started to organize and pack. Spent whole day moving my stuffs to my friend's
house. I made about 4 trips, including the last one is around 9:30pm.
|
| 5/18 | After spending 2,108 day in the room 657, I am moving out Wheatshocker
Apartment at 6:00pm. From 8 in the morning, I made 4 trips to the house I am
staying for a while
Going to baseball game at 7:00pm. Since I did not check out on time, I was late for the opening but I watched between the 2nd and 4th innings. I bought a ticket yesterday but I guess I packed it in somewhere so I had to use general admissions. I have not been to the stadium since 1996. I have not seen the new look of the stadium before so I was quite impressed. This was the last home game for the season. Shockers won the game by 8-7 against Oklahoma
Took a shower at Heskett Center before heading home and went to Spangles for my dinner. It was quite hot when I got home but I could sleep. A small glitch made my room unavailable this time so I had to sleep on a couch. |
| 5/19 | I woke up around 6:30pm in the morning. Got to campus around 8:30am, took shower at Heskett Center and stayed in the office. Had lunch with my friend at Cinnamon's Deli. Stopped by my old suitemate's room to get stuffs I forgot to take out when I was checking out. My room was pretty much done so I slept there for the first time. |
| 5/20 | I went to bed around 11pm last night so it was not so easy to wake up. Came to school around 8:30am. I had lunch at Japan Express, ordered a Teriyaki Bowl. There was a big accident involving at least four cars on 21st and Woodlawn, blocking the traffic. Also there was another one I saw on the Oliver in the evening too. |
| 5/21 | Woke up around 6:00am. Had breakfast, left my room around 8:00am, took shower at Heskett Center, stayed in the office for the morning but went home for lunch and prepared to teach lifeguarding class in the evening since we are planning to cover spinal injury management. Left home and headed to the school, bought my dinner at Subway, teaching lifeguarding class both in class and pool but stuck at submerged spinal injury management. Got home around 10:40pm, class resume from 9:00am tomorrow. |
| 5/22 | Woke up at 7:00am. Arrived at Heskett Center around 8:50am. Spent whole day teaching lifeguarding class. Got off and came home around 6:30pm. stayed up late until 11:30pm to prepare for the |
| 5/23 | Arrived at HC around 8:50am. I took care of active drowning and CPR portion of the final scenarios. Done with teaching lifeguard training class around 1:30pm. I think everybody except one person passed. The good thing is that nobody had to retake the written exam. Gave a five Yen coin to each newly certified lifeguards. I stayed in my office after that until 4:30pm, went to Wal-Mart, stopped by a gas station to grab newspapers, came home and took care of one of the computers at home. |
| 5/24 | Woke up at 6:30am, on campus between 9:00am to
5:30pm. Had lunch at Subway, Swam in the evening. I think cops are watching
on the Kellogg near I-135 intersection a lot these days. I have seen a Lexus
got pulled over yesterday morning, and today was a red Pontiac (the female
driver was arguing with an officer outside of vehicle.) Rained in the
evening through the night.
|
| 5/25 | Cooler than past few days. Cloudy and windy. Worked out in the Heskett Center in the morning. Brought my lunch but missed dinner. Went to Spangles and ended up waiting for 20 minutes because they forgot my order. The fries became supersized. I was too full when I finish it... (I also got a free cookie) Came home around 10:00pm |
| 5/26 | My car is getting dirty because of the rain and dirt road. I need to wash it soon. Called Wichita Eagle to order the newspaper delivery to the house for next few months. Stopped by First Gear in downtown to buy a new pair of shoes, and to register for a race in the weekend. Swam in the noon for about one hour, did pretty much nothing in the evening except going to Food 4 Less to buy some groceries.. |
| 5/27 | Woke up around 6:00am, cooked my lunch. I got first delivery of newspaper. Because it's near the Memorial day, many stores are advertising the sales already. Worked out in the gym in the morning then went to my office. Things are getting so bored and I just want to go home and do something fun. (I wish there is a window in my office...) Washed my car, been to Best Buy before heading home. |
| 5/28 | Friday! I left the house around 7:15am, was at the office by 8:00pm. Had lunch with my friends at a Vietnamese restaurant on Broadway around 1:00pm. We have got our DSL box from the SBC. |
| 5/29 | I went to my office again to check on computer, work on my stuffs a bit. Had my lunch at Burger King. Updated my Wichita Survival Page. Cook curry in the evening. It was expected to be stormy over night and we had a tornado warning issued in Sedgwick County around 10:00pm. Call my home, went to bed around 11:00pm |
| 5/30 | Ran 2 miles in the morning in Rob Ream Memorial
Run. Been to Kansas Aviation Museum to
see classic airplanes but the storm last night sent them away so I have seen
only few of them. However, it was my first time I have been there so I had a
good time.
|
| 5/31 | Memorial Day. This is the last day of May. Went to work around 8:30am, had lunch at Taco Bell. I stayed in my office until 5:00pm. |
